    Lovely little town
Paraty has a lot of history and is enchanting to see the town so well preserved. The streets are a hazard when there is water, and I recommend wearing good shoes and not flip-flops to walk around. The doors of the casarões are beautiful photography spots!

    Lovely centre
The historical centre is lovely, lots of restaurants, shops & pousadas. But I thought that Paraty was a beach town. Now don’t get me wrong, there is a beach and it’s very nice with lots of cafes, bars and restaurants, plenty of seating and umbrellas. But the water……the quality is terrible. Really dirty, if you walked out more than a metre or so, you sunk up to your ankles in ‘slime’. In fact, I wouldn’t go in, my husband went in around a metre and came out very quickly. We had a nice time but probably stayed a day too long.
