Awesome lake, not used for nautical sports
An artificial lake wild a greater than 10 miles walkway around it. Worth visiting for the Niemeyer’s buildings.

Lagoa da Pampulha/ Pampulha lake
Beautiful place with lots of things to see: a very modern church projected by Oscar Niemeyer in the 50ties and it was so modern that the Catholic Bishop did not allow masses there. Years later it was allowed. There are good restaurants, Statues, a museum and a Zoo, all around the lake.

Very cool!
Huge park. Around the lagoon I believe is 24 kilometers. There's a resident alligator, although I didn't see him. The lagoon is quite polluted but the park and trails are worth the visit.
