Dos D'Anse Pond, St. Kitts, St. Kitts and Nevis

No need to book a guide. Only take your (good) hiking shoes and bathing suit
This hike is a great hit of Saint Kitts. It does not require to use the service of a guide. You just need to hike up to the small and beautifull lake of Dos d'Anse Pond. Once arrived at the top of the trek this lake offers a very good place to take a swim. There is even a nice waterfall. The trek is about 3 hours from the end of the "all vehicule" road (near Carribel Batik). The good point is that you will not find any hiking bozos, that should better choose other more appropriate excursions. The trek begins along the old military trail that was built to cross the Island from South to North. From there, there are orange and red tapes on trees that will guide you easily up to the top. Of course such trek is muddy and can be slippery, as the well known Liamuiga trek, but what do you except in the rain forest. There are comfy bathrooms ... in your hotel or cruise ship. But, trust me, 10 feet away from the path, you will find nobody goofing around ! Have a nice day !

Dos D'Anse Pond
This is a worthwhile climb, however, I would not recommend doing it without a local guide. Also, do not do the climb if it is raining or overcast. The climb does not require any special gear, however, you should be in shape. Plan on getting a bit muddy.
