The home of Renaissance Carambola Resort!
Davis Bay is beautiful. The only real thing there is the Renaissance Carambola Resort, which is fantastic. There is great snorkeling and a dive shop right at the resort. The views are spectacular, and on a clear day or night, you can see all the way across to St Thomas. One fun fact is that, unlike Cane Bay and other parts of the island, there are almost NO mosquitoes there! We were told it was because of the prevailing winds and how the bay is oriented. I am not sure if that is the case or not, but it was glorious. Fun Fact: the final scenes of the movie "Trading Places", with Eddie Murphy and Dan Ackroyd, (the sailboat and beach scene) were shot at Davis Bay, before the resort was built. :)

    Like Hawaii, only closer
This beach in front of the Carambola Beach Resort is open to the public as are all beaches on St. Croix, yet is almost never crowded. There is the advantage of the luxury hotel just steps away, for cold drinks at the bar or a light lunch, and the views from the beach are spectacular - like the NaPali Cliffs in Hawaii. Maroon Ridge, to the west of the beach, is a secluded area where escaped slaves once lived in caves in the cliffs, and the renowned "baths", or tidal pools, lie below those same cliffs. The beach is gorgeous, and there is a dive shop for equipment rentals right at the beach.
