..fallen but never forgotten ... still alive, the blood of Heroes.

The Avenue of Heroes ... a monumental ensemble paying homage to the fallen sons and daughters , the nations heroes who fought and died bravely in the "Great War". It consists of 5 pieces (+ 1 recent add on the Mausoleum of Ecaterina Teodoroiu , still debated if it is part or not of this ensamble). The 5 pieces are: - The Endless Column - Saint Peter and Paul church - The Gate of the Kiss - The Alley of the Chairs - The Table of Silence. All these are lined up in straight line along a street originating at the park of the Column and ending a the Table of Kiss close by to the Jiu river. 4 are sculptures of Constantin Brancusi - the genius sculpture who's works are ever since inspiring generations of artist. The item not created by Brancusi is the church. The Mausoleum of Ecaterina Teodoroiu is the creation of Milita Patrascu a student of Constantin Brancusi ... so it has some of the genius of the Great Master. Overall a very nice and interesting homage to the nations Heroes, although it should deserve more attention and more care I definitely recommend you visit each of these when you are in Targu Jiu.
