Quite amazing place to see
This is quickly seen if you are in Pargas. Near the center is a sightseeing site, from which you can see an amazing view over the large quarry area. There is a warning sound before explotions, be aware of that (even though I think the sightseeing site seems quite safe place to be..). There is a small parking lot next to the sightseeing site. The quarry is about 70 ha large and 150 meters deep open quarry. The place where they crash the lime stone pieces smaller, is situated 220 meters underground. The quarry is in work, and it produces about 2,4 million tons of lime stone yearly, mostly to use for making concrete. Lime stone has been mined in Pargas already in the 14th century, and the factory was established in 1898.

Take a tour!
This is a place very few people outside Parainen / Pargas has visited. It's really impressive hole in the ground, which digging was starting somewhere in the end of 19th century. We had a good guide and I think the place was definitely worth seeing.
