Beautiful curch

An old stone church, one of the prettiest in Finland. Worth a visit if you are into churches. Most likely quieter during the winter months.

    Exceptional Catholic Style Church
A Lutheran Church originally built as a Catholic Church in the 14th century. Fortunately more of the Catholic elements remain rather than the non existant features of most Lutheran churches. As an admirer of Southern European Baroque, it was like a breath of spring in the middle of the austere but beautiful northern landscapes and sea. Exquisite chandeliers, intricate wooden pulpit, shiny brass reflective candle holders, large Tick Tock clock, wooden ship models with frosted glass windows behind them and solemn organ with eerie organ practice that made one wonder if Martin Luther was not nearby. Church amidst highly scented lavender bushes. Church is part of the Old town village. Wandering lanes with old wooden houses painted red and yellow. Spring in all its glory after the harsh Archipelago winter. ? ?—>?

A church with an great history.
As we where travelling and aiming to visit most of the stone build churches on our journey to the ultimate goal at Nidaros, Trondheim. The history is great and the trip to here is well worth it.
