    Masterpiece worth the drive
Renovations have somewhat altered the original 1930's design when the building was later used as a normal hospital but it surely is worth the long drive from Helsinki. The guided tour takes you also to the roof terrace, with enough background knowledge you manage well on your own. Two people suffering from the very contagious tuberculosis were housed in one small room fitted with a noiseless waterbasin and another for spitting. The open balconies where patients used to rest on special beds breathing the healthy air of pine forest looked dangerous in old photos and have later been fitted with glass panels. Use the restaurant if you still return to Helsinki in the evening, there are limited options on the road.

Excellent architecture, must see for Alvar Aalto lovers
This is THE masterpiece of Alvar Aalto. You can book a tour in advance of go without appointment. The outside is free for a walk around the building. Nice garden and good view on the architecture. We went into the building without appointment and were able to see the most interesting parts on the groundfloor. At the moment the building houses a hospital for children with special needs. The next day we visited an Aalto exhibition in the Helsinki Ateneum.
