    Worth a stop
There used to be several ironworks around in South-Western Finland. Some of them, like Taalintehdas on Kimito Island, made it into the 21st Century, but a lot of them closed down in the 1950s or 60s. Mathildedal is not as known as Fiskars or Billnäs, which have turned into art & design villages and that have turned into tourist destinations, but the resent efforts to keep Mathildedal alive has paid off and it's absolutely worth a stop if you're in the area. The village itself is charming and right in the center you find a small pub-café where you can have a taste the beer from the micro brewery next door. There's also a small shop selling the local beer as well as bread from the bakery. From here you turn down towards the harbour and on the way you pass Mathildedal Manor with Alpacas strolling around. The old ironworks is down near the harbour and here you find a restaurant, some shops (one selling Alpaca Products), a museum and a cozy café. The museum is free of charge.

    Has probably seen better days
The idea is a lovely one but the houses and their surrounding could be maintained better. Compared to Fiskars this was rather dissappointing.
