Charming small museum

The museum Ett Hem is a reconstruction displaying the late 19th and early 20th century interiors of a now demolished house at Hameenkatu in Turku. The owner of the house Alfred Jacobsson made a career as an industrial entrepeneur, while his wife Helene acquired a small collection of paintings and decorative artworks. The museum displays a collection of art and furnishings from the couples home. The museum Ett Hem is open during the summer from May to September, and for the Christmas Season in December. Groups can visit the museum also outside the opening hours, guided tours should be booked at latest one week in advance.

ETT HEM - 'A HOME' MERCHANT MUSEUM
'Ett Hem' merchant museum is mainly open early May - late September, as well as December - early January for Christmas exhibition. Other times of the year open on appointment for groups mainly. All the belongings in this home is from Alfred & Hélène Jacobsson's noble merchants home, they lived roughly 1850-1930 in Turku (Swedish Åbo) and contributed eg to the forming of the Åbo Akademi Foundation. Beautiful furniture, artifacts, china & cutlery, art pieces (Albert Edelfelt, Helene Schjerfbeck, Akseli Gallen-Kallela) adorn this wonderful home. A wonderful place to escape the hectic world and turn back your clock. Across the street you'll find the Sibelius Museum, really nice café next doors and lots of students on the Campus of the Åbo Akademi University (founded in 1640). The imposing Cathedral is just a stones throw away.
