This is the famous monastery here. It' 90 years old. There is a beautiful lake near the monastery and a nature trail. You can visit the monastery and have luch there. Then you can go for a walk - use MAPS.me, there is a rout on the map. You can reservation a room here, or make short visit. Here is really beautiful in all seasons, including winter. If you can, come here January, 7th - it's Christmas here and here will be really beautiful

    The biggest monastery in Finland
    Peaceful place, nice buildings. Worth visiting. There is also a museum shop with monastery wine, tea, honey, spices, candles etc. We also had lunch - and it was buffet with basic Finnish food. Please notice that you should were clothes which cover your shoulders and knees. You can visit new Valamo throughout the year and there is also accommodation available.

    Orthodox monastery in Finland
    The whole area is beautiful, but monastery itself is quite small. Church is nice and well decorated. Monk are producing wine and they are selling wine in monastery shop. There is also cafe and restaurant, because monastery is pretty popular.
