A very nice experience, a walk along the danube bridge
Along with my brother, I tackled the Giurgiu Nord hiking trail (you will be searched for your identity documents on the train before you can get off) to the center of Rousse. The march covers a distance of approx. 15 km, but it is relatively easy to do. It is about 7km to the bridge itself, there you should be prepared to be asked both on the Romanian and the Bulgarian side for the reason for the passage and for valid ID documents. Passing on foot costs nothing, you have to pay a toll fee by car. On the bridge, there is a very narrow hiking trail, on which partly pipes are also laid. But this hiking trail is definitely worth it for the beautiful view of the Danube. Then it proceeds from the industrial area in Rousse, along the Mladenzhki Park, to the city center.

Danube Bridge
This bridge is connecting Bulgaria (Ruse) and Romania (Giurgiu) over the great Danube river. "Friendship Bridge" is actually a former name. Today it's just the "Danube Bridge". Construction started in 1952, finished in 1954. Looking tremendous.

Narrow foot paths on both sides of the bridge
It is a kind of adventure to walk across the bridge. Taxi drivers tell you it is not possible (they want to sell a ride). Locals shrug their shoulders when you ask.The foot paths are rather narrow and sometimes there are obstacles (easy to circumvent). Bring your passport as on both sides it was checked. I did not feel a lot of friendship between Bulgaria and Romania. From the center of Ruse to the bus station in Giurgiu it is 14 km. An easy walk with a splendid view over the Danube.
