The horror of this place is so impressive; it brings what happened come to life in a way that I struggle to explain and will never forget. To this day my skin crawls when I talk about it. The hours at Murambi and the rest of the day was spent in horrified silence. We knew the history well in advance so it was not the surprise element. It was just so powerful. Murambi will not be a fun memory, but an important one. In the words of George Santayana: Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it. That is why Murambi is excellent.

    Moving, Sad, Informative
I was overwhelmed with emotion when I visited the Memorial center. The display and interactive elements in the main building are vivid and highly informative. The outside section that houses the remains of the genocide victims is indeed a powerful reminder of the genocide and the atrocities that we committed against fellow Rwandans. The experience was educational and gives one pause to reflect on the cruelty of humanity towards each other. Well worth a visit for those who wish to gain further insights into the genocide of 1994.
