Best museum trip I have ever being on

Exhibition Kraków under Nazi Occupation 1939–1945 is located in the former administrative building of Oskar Schindler’s Enamel Factory at 4 Lipowa Street. The exhibition is primarily a story about Kraków and its inhabitants, both Polish and Jewish, during World War Two. It is also a story about Nazi Germans – the occupiers who arrived here on 6 September 1939, brutally disrupting Kraków’s centuries-long history of Polish-Jewish relations. Due to high popularity of the museum, pre-booking is required.

    Informative and harrowing
We turned up on the first Tuesday of the month only to discover that the factory was shut on that date. However we turned up at opening time on the Wednesday, got in pretty much immediately and then spent the next two and a half hours going round the museum. We didn't have a guide but didn't feel disadvantaged as there was ample information in English. The focus of the museum is less on Schindler and more on the wider context of Krakow under the Nazi Occupation. It is successful in giving an insight into that particularly harrowing period of history. If you're going to Krakow it should be on your list of places to visit.

Powerful museum but they need to sort the front of house out.
This museum, captivating and powerful, tells the story of Krakow during the German occupation of 1939-45. It is based in the former Schindler factory, though Schindler takes up only a small part of what there is to see. The exhibits are varied and imaginatively presented. Many of the details are so powerful - I saw one woman in tears learning about some of the horrors of this time. One thing the museum hasn’t got right is the ticket desk and entrance area. It was like Poland used to be. One person is selling tickets and also dealing with groups and pre-booked people. Very slow. Another member of staff is checking tickets and punching them (necessary?) Surely two separate lines would make more sense, as would allowing people to queue in the spacious foyer, rather than being kept outside in the blazing sun as we were, by yet another member of staff. Weirdly, there’s also no sign at the museum entrance, so first time visitors are likely to be perplexed.
