The main reason for our visit to Sanok
His wife Zofia died of cancer in 1998 and his son Tomek (a DJ on Polish Radio 3 and English translator - he did Monty Python and James Bond - on Christmas Eve 1999 from suicide. My wife recorded his last broadcast and she and her friends thought he would do something. The exhibition is very well orgainsed with photos of Beksinski at work in his studio, his photographic and computer equipment, cds etc. The art work is intriguing and his images challenge the imagination. He met an awful violent death at the hands of a 19 year old, but his work lives on. A truly internationally-recognised Polish artist.

    Great collection, breathtaking
I find Beksinski's paintings more mysterious than Dali's and more haunting than Giger's. My expectation regarding the collection in Sanok were not big, Sanok being a small town and such. But I was astonished by the amount Beksinski's works. There are dozens of large paintings, numerous drawings, photographs, sculptures and other creative works. A moving human touch is given by the recreation of the artists studio with the original objects used by Beksinski, including his vast audio collection or 1990s computer. It's like he's just left and will come back any minute. This collection is very well worth the travel to this remote location in Poland.
