4.0 (2 reviews) Spent Ranking #1 in Karijoki Caverns & Caves

Hiking, country skiing, downhill skiing etc

A good place for outdoor activities both in summer and winter. There is a modern restaurant with specular view over the Ostrobothnian landscape who also offer exhibitions of the well known Wolf Cave. A Cave which has been proven to be home for people 120.000 years ago and the cave is the biggest cafe in Finland. In summer time there are several hike tracks to choose from, there is a small lake popular by local people with a small sandbeach. No showers available. There are stone fields after the ice age here as well as cliff walls and stone formations to visit. In wintertime the Pyhävuori hill has a great slalom, downhill skiing hill close to the restaurant. The mountain is known for good cross skiing tracks. A good place to visit or for active vacation for entire family. Have visited the place regulary since tens of years in a row.

We should have visited the information center before coming here, but it was interesting anyway. As far as I know, the cave hasn't been yet explored thoroughly. It needs some walking to get there.
