Zin River, Southern District, Israel

4.5 (32 reviews) Spent Ranking #10 in Beersheba Bodies of Water

Breathtaking views and hiking trails!

We had the opportunity to hike in the Zinn River Canyon National Park on a recent tour of Israel with a church group. The canyon and river was a beautiful oasis in the middle of the harsh desert with wildlife and abundant plant life. We only hiked in about a mile and did not hike all the way to the top of the canyon walls, which looked like a beautiful but long hike. We were able to see wonderfully close many Ibex who wander in the canyon for food and water. The views from the highway as you enter the canyon area are astounding and breathtaking! The park has nice, clean and well maintained bathrooms but no services other than that. Make sure to bring lots of water, sun screen and a hat. Always check weather and rain forcast as this canyon area can be dangerous when flooding occurs from even a seemingly small amount of rain.

very important- before you are going on a tour
this river is dry most of the year, but during the fall and the winter, when it is raining few kilometers from there, near Beer sheba and the south, all the water are being collected into the rivers of the Negev desert and a flood can occure. so it is very important to hear the weather forecast before taking the tour

    Dry and Desolate
General dry till the northern rains then unexpectively floods. An interesting part of the topography and geology of the area
