Must stop & learn

Near Hazeva (Road 90), a great place to stop for a 1.5 hour break. Suitable for all ages who are curious and like to learn, understand by watching, touching and hearing how things grow in the desert, how come people are leaving in that hot place and doing great things by all means.
We enjoyed all three main stations of the visit- the 3 D movie, the learning by playing center and the green house.
Great experience!

    beautifull and interesting
while in the south or on way to Eilat, stop at Vidor Center, fits adults and kids.
if you come from the north, don't miss Masada, it's one of the best places in the world to understand an learn.
while touring in the area drive to Ein- Tamar, at the enterance stop to see the statue that connects the highest and the lowest places in the world.

Innovative Arava Agriculture and a world class tourist attraction at Hatzeva
Drove through magnificent desert scenery from Sde Boker and through the Large Crater and Maale Akrabim to the Vidor Center in Hatzeva - a recommended route in itself - and was shown great hospitality by the Visitor Center staff .
This is a world class facility with a wonderful exhibit of interactive educational displays that introduce - in a very experiential and fun way aimed to interest young and old alike - the story of settlement in the Arava , the wonders of the delicate ecology at work in the desert and the creative development of a flourishing agriculture in this beautiful but harsh environment .
A great stop on the way to Eilat or for an Arava as a worthy tourism destination in its own right. Staff at the Vidor Center can also assist in building customized tours and programs from single day to multi day packages . Great for individuals , couples families and groups. Highly recommended .

Great spot to learn about Arava desert and sample local produce
My wife, sister and I recently visited the Vidor Visitors' Center and highly recommend it. The Center is primarily a small, but lovely, museum with excellent interactive exhibits describing various aspects of the Arava Desert. One fun feature for children is the "sand pit" which allows visitors to stick heir hands in the sand to contour it, while a projector beams a topographical map onto the sand as it changes shape. The Center has exhibits about local wildlife, incredible research being done by scientists in the area, and stories of families who have made their homes in this challenging desert. The gift shop offers delicious local honey and amazing dates grown in the date groves in the local moshavim. The Vidor Center is well worth a visit. You can also have a snackl either indoors or on the lovely outdoor patio. Be sure to check it out.

Vegetables growing in the desert -- are you kidding?
This site is fabulous. Located on the drive from the Dead Sea to Eilat it offers the visitor a hands on experience on how the desert has been made to bloom via high technology. The site also includes visiting hothouses to see how the produce grows in such harsh conditions. Not operational in July and August due to high heat.

Great Place to Spend an Afternoon
There are lots of hands on exhibits for kids and also adults. The film about the history of the area is very well done and is a learning experience.

You learn how we made the desert bloom and what is produced in the Arava. How the water is brought in and how the plants are feed. It gives you an overview about how Israel can grow such wonderful tasty fruits and vegetables.

    AMAZING to see
Who grows fruits, vegetables and flowers in sand and stone, with very little water? Israelis in the Arava, that’s who. This is our third visit here. The fruit gets sweeter, the vegetables larger and flowers more fragrant. ❤️

    What an interesting find
I learned a great deal about the establishment of farming here in the desert and the tremendous work that has been done to protect the environment while still yielding amazing crops

    Very Interesting
All of the exhibits in the vidor centre are extremely well done. Very interesting and insightful into not only the agriculture in the Arava, but also life and the geology here. This place is great for people of all ages and I think it is the perfect place to start any trip to the Arava to learn about the land and people.

Great Learning Experience for Tourists and Locals
The educational 3D video gave an insight on how the Arava region came to life and informs us on the current Agriculture and Tourism. The Agriculture Research & Info centre is more of Private in nature and helps the farmers in the region free of cost on how to grow existing or newer things more efficiently.. It is one of teh best assistance that can be provided to the farmers... There are green houses where in new products are being grown under controlled atmosphere before they are grown for commerical use. There was also an educational area giving insights on how water reaches teh region, early settlements, different tribes, flora and fauna, etc.. Very informative..
