The Corinne Mamane Museum of Philistine Culture, Southern District, Israel
4.5 (50 reviews) Spent 1-2 hours Ranking #4 in Ashdod Speciality Museums
Very good small museum
This is an interesting little museum, it does not have much in it but had some things from the Philistine era a few thousand years old (pots, jugs, jewellery etc.). I think it is well worth a visit. I had an audioguide in English, but sometimes they might not offer you one unless you ask. It doesn't cost extra and adds much to the visit. There are some information boards around, including in English, but not many. It can be hard to find as it seems to be in a residential area.

Lovely museum
I really enjoyed this museum. The artifacts are beautiful, the setup and lighting are spot-on, and the information is presented in an interactive and interesting manner, including amusing caricatures of life in the Philistine world and excerpts from works such as the Illiad. As a history enthusiast, however, I already knew a lot of the more general information and would have loved if the museum went into greater detail about the presence of the Philistines in the region and their interactions with the ancient Hebrews. It's a fairly small museum that can be thoroughly explored in about 2 hours, which makes the 30 NIS entrance fee rather expensive in my opinion. Note: the audio guide is free but is only available in Hebrew. Don't worry though, it doesn't give that much more information than the written texts.
