Good place to visit for painting lovers
The museum houses quite an extensive collection of Romanian painting and sculpture including classical artists of the 19th century and the most prominent painters of the 20th (Tonitza, Pallady, Ciucurencu, Iser, etc.). As regards the size of the collection of this sort, it is inferior probably only to a couple of Bucharest museums. The building of museum is well-maintained (which is not always the case in these parts of the world). Visiting the museum will be a really good experience for all art lovers not to say of professional artists.

    A local's POV
I remember skipping highschool and going for a small visit to this museum, so i can recharge my energy surrounded by beautiful paintings. I discovered masterpieces by Nicolae Grigorescu or Theodor Aman in person, rather than in albums, along with many other lesser known Romanian and foreign artists. Then I started going to the recitals organised in the building by the Cultural Center 'Theodor Burada'. Music, poetry and paintings always mix well together. Every now and then there are temporary exhibitions, preceded by powerful speeches. This quiet museum does hold a lot of surprises and as a local, I can say I've enjoyed going there each time as if it was my first.
