Saon, a beauty
The Saon Monastery is at a distance of 11 kilometers in the direction of Niculiţel, from Tulcea, it is a very beautiful monastery with three silver domes ... It has a lake (L.Telincea, near L. Rotundu, near the Danube ). It is well-kept, owns farm farms, wine production facilities, wine warehouse, fruit orchards, farm, and also offers very decent accommodation. Anyway, it's worth visiting!

The monastery near water
The monastery is build on the shore of Lake Rotundu part of Danube Delta . The monastic establishment from Saon was initially built in 1846 by the monks that had left the Celic-Dere Monastery but is now inhabited by nouns . There are 2 churches , a small old one made mainly from wood in stile traditional in the area and a new bigger one whose construction begun in 1909 After a rainy period the waters of the lake inundate the lower terrain and surround the monastery from 3 parts and the lower part of the trees gets submerged. Many species of wild birds can be admired here . I was lucky once and got there exactly when the water lilies were blooming

Always close to God
This monastery is located somewhere near the Danube, having also a lake formed by the Danube. The construction began in 1846, at the level of the pantry, then another pantry and now a new and modern monastery. There is, in the back, another small wooden monastery dedicated to the entrance of St. Mary's virgin in the church. Here, other than religious objects (icons, crosses, religious books), you can buy wine, tzuica, honey and cheese from the production of nuns. Pictures of the monastery found on the net, I posed the ostrich in the garden of the monastery. Enjoy!
