2nd biggest dam in Romania
Indeed , built between 1975 and 1994 the Siriu dam created on the Buzau river is the second largest embankment dam in Romania , made of clay , earth and rocks (no concrete - the dry clay in contact with the water expends and its impermeable) - the largest is at Gura Apelor in Hunedoara county (in fact that 1 is the largest in Europe to the date). So the Buzau river was dammed at Siriu with a dam 112 meters tall and 570 meters long - the lake behind the dam is 11,5 km long and at its deepest point 120 meters deep ... so indeed the figures speak for themselves. The scenery around the lake its beautiful and definitely worth exploring so if you have the time to stay for a few days on its shores , it is definitely worth the time ... for those into sports fishing you can enjoy some fishing too or if you just love nature , you can definitely enjoy a few days there. If you are driving through the area it is definitely worth to stop near Teherau for a few pics (mind the bears , in the area is not rare to see bears beside the road) at least.
