Easter cathedral uplifting experience!
Archdiocesan Cathedral of Galati can be visited by a citizen from outside the Orthodox as a tourist attraction. The building built of stone and Carrara marble, the interior is painted in fresco, starting with 1906, is dedicated to "St. Nicholas and St. Andrew. " The true spirit of Episcopal Cathedral you can find on Easter. When believers gather in front of the building and receive from Archbishop light at Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem. People light candles they light passing from one another in the holy silence. Cathedral awash in an ethereal light and lies along the east ecuprins the holiday spirit. I chose to post some pictures from Easter.

Faith, history, tradition, architecture.
The foundation stone of the Orthodox Cathedral in Galati was laid in 1906 as a result of the efforts of Bishop Pimen Georgescu and was completed in 1917 "The prince of Romania, Ferdinand and Princess Maria In the document drawn up by King Carol I, Queen Elizabeth and all the members of the government, it was shown that the place where the foundation stone was placed was intended to" eternal "the achievements the 40th anniversary of Carol I's rule. " With a very beautiful architecture and impressive interior paintings, the Cathedral is one of the most important landmarks of Galati.

Easter Midnight Mass outside the Orthodox Cathedral
If you haven't experienced the Easter Midnight Mass outside the Orthodox Church Cathedral then you should ! Arrive early to stand near the cathedral entrance - where the bishop and choir assemble Also obtain a candle before attending A 'sharing of the light' (brought all the way from Jerusalem) takes place at about 2350hrs - this shared from the bishops lamp from candle to candle - the light spreads throughout the crowd - and then the lights are illuminated at the same time as the message 'Christ is risen' The liturgy/message is in Romanian - so take someone to interpret it if you can't speak the language This is an impressive, moving event - whether you believe or not ! (We also saw the Catholic Church Easter procession that takes place about 2230hrs near to the Orthodox Cathedral - a procession of about 100 people through he streets carrying a crucifix and singing)
