History comes to life in this museum

The house museum can only be visited on a guided tour, but it is worth the effort. An excellent presentation shed light on the history of Ivan W, who came to Finland as a serf in the 1840s, became a Finnish citizen, and his rise to one of the wealthiest men in Lappeenranta. He was a true serial entrepreneur. The house and Wolkoff's story tell how a free society feeds creativity by giving everyone the opportunity to succeed, regardless of their origin. At the same time, the history of the house tells about the connections between Finland and Russia, which Russia's aggressive attack on Ukraine has now destroyed for years. But the perspective of the house's history is in decades or even longer.

    Fantastic!
Visited this museum a few days ago while on holiday in Finland. Thoroughly enjoyed it, our guide was fantastic, so informative and so patient with our many questions!

    Home museum
Wolkoff family lived in this house for about a century until mid 80s. They have kept and saved pretty much everything, so you can see f.ex. one of the first telephones in Lappeenranta. Everything is authentic, really interesting place to visit.
