These lake views were the best part of our holiday in Imatran Kylpyla Spa
We stayed overnight in Imatran Kylpyla Spa and hiked to Malonsaari Island. There is a nature path named Kylpylän luontopolku from the spa to Malonsaari Island. On the trail you see extremely beautiful lake views and traditional wooden boat shelters. Soon behind Hossukan Helmi holiday building you find a narrow wooden bridge (only for walkers) which leads to Malonsaari Island. It is only a bit over 2 kilometers from Imatran Kylpyla Spa to this bridge. There is a hiking trail along the shore of Malonsaari Island. The island is uninhabited and about 1 kilometer long. If you go round the whole island, the route is 2-3 kilometers. The trail is right on the coastline and so you see fantastic views. If you start hiking from the bridge to the left you find an open campfire site very soon. You have to have your own firewood and matchsticks with you. There aren't any services available there. The trail near the campfire site is very rocky. So be careful and watch your steps. On other parts of the island there aren't rocks and the path is very easy to hike. This hiking route was the best part of our holiday in Imatran Kylpylä Spa. The total distance the spa - round Malonsaari Island - the spa was about 7-8 kilometers. Malonsaari Island is accessible using public transportation, too. You can take a bus number 3 from the bus and railway station to Imatran Kylpylä Spa and start hiking from the spa. If you are coming with your own car, you can park on the parking place of Imatran Kylpylä Spa. Or if you don't want to walk so much, there are parking places next to Hossukan Helmi (address Hosseinlahdentie 139) and in Leppälahti (address Somerkuja), quite near the walking bridge which leads to Malonsaari Island across the strait named Malonsalmi. If you love longer hiking trails, remember that these routes mentioned here are connected to the European long distance walking trail E10 which leads from Nuorgram in Finnish Lapland to Tarifa in Spain (2880 kilometers). It is easy to hike from Imatran Kylpylä Spa to the north (Ruokolahti) or to the south (Rauha, the rocky beach of Talviranta and Joutseno). We will definitely come back here!
