Very pretty town

Coming by cruise ship we had a complimentary bus from the Waitahi Wharf to the town center. They had good free Wi-Fi at the Information Center and very clean toilets. Several volunteers met us with maps and plenty of information on the local area. They have a lovely park with mini golf and a large playground with water features for the children. On the day we arrived children were performing Irish dancing on a small outdoor stage in the park. It was busy being a weekend, lots of dining venues in this pretty town. It's known for beautiful beaches and bush walks, they have a train and a Hop On Hop Off Bus for tourists as well. Tours to the famous wine region were popular with passengers from the ship.

    Picturesque View
When approaching the town of Picton from Queen Charlotte Drive, the elevated view of the harbor is stunning. Equally stunning is the view of the harbor from London Quay in the city center. Visitors can pass through the archway of an impressive war memorial and down the steps, to a red brick walkway which leads directly to the wharf and Foreshore Beach, with the beautiful blue waters of the Sound beyond.

    A Wow place
What a beautiful and peaceful place. We spent time just sitting at the port watching the ferries come and go. Plenty of photo opportunities. This is one of those Wow places. We loved this place and we will go back one day.
