    Hidden Jewel
This is a sight best seen during the summer months when the Rata are in full bloom. Absolutely stunning. The track continues to the edge of the Lake where the visitor is provided (deteriorating) information about how the lake (very) slowly has become smaller in size as the forest begins to regenerate itself. Interesting but possibly not worth the effort of reaching, particularly if time is crucial. The best view of the lake really is just a few steps from the beginning of the track, where you can look down onto a stunning lake.

    Pretty
This is another nice forest walk in the Catlins. The lake itself is a small bog lake that is s!owly fi!lling in. There is a nice boardwalk through the end of the lake with informative plaques describing the different levels of forest from the lake back. Worth getting out of the car and stretching your legs for 30 minutes.
