Mount Cook Viewpoint

We stopped by the viewpoint on the Southern end of the lake to try and catch a glimpse of Mount Cook. We failed as it was cloudy but the view of the lake itself was also quite nice. There is a fairly large parking lot so it was an easy stop. There was also a Salmon shop here as well as a visitors center with information and covered seating to look across the lake.

    Amazing views!
We stopped at a view different spots along lake Pukaki while driving from lake tekapo to mount cook. The area & lake are simply stunning. The lake is an icy blue colour with views of mount cook in the background. Definitely worth a visit.

    8th Wonder
After our NZ trip, we must disagree with Rudyard Kipling's opinion. Milford Sound may be the 9th or 10th. Wonder of the world. But the 8th. place is deservedly booked for LAKE PUKAKI. BUfffff, one of the most gorgeous road sceneries we've ever seen. And thanks to the different lookout points / areas in the same road because if not, the driver can't combine the sensastion of driving with the complete bewilderment by the beauty of the turquoise colur of the lake and Mount Cook's snowed peak image. We enjoyed it, coming from Tekapo and taking the RD80 to Mount Cook Village. But three days later, in our journey back to Christchurch, we stopped again to readmire it. I also had the impression the same car obliged me to stop again. This is not recommendable. It's a complete obligation to visit it
