Relaxed beach with great parking garage and authentic boulevard

The beach of Katwijk is wide, clean and adorned with numerous pleasant beach clubs. A bit more down to earth than “nouveaux riche” Noordwijk. There is an enormous parking garage right below the dunes, which makes it very easy to park nearby. The boulevard is still very authentic without any large scale property development and with the historic white church and ditto lighthouse.

    Great beach, great beachclubs, great parking
    Katwijk has a relaxed almost old-fashioned boulevard without any highrise buildings ... however not too long ago a humongous parking garage with over 500 places has discreetly been built below the dunes. Very convenient! Also on the northside there is a large parking lot, and on the south side there is ample streetside parking. And the beach itself is unsurpassed ... if only the weather would be equally good more often!

    More relaxed than other seaside places
    Compared to Scheveningen and nearby Noordwijk, this beach is relatively quiet. The boulevard is not lined with highrise buildings and ordinary village life is not far away. An underground parking lot solved the problem of too much motorized traffic. The beach is wide and flat, easily accessible to people in wheelchairs or with strollers, as there are concrete paths all the way to the high tide line. The whole area was clean and tidy. I cycled here from Rotterdam during cool weather in May. In spring the sea water is still rather cold. Unfortunately I did not find a shower and got home 'salty'.
