Hard going pathways but recommend

When you arrive the bunkers entrance looks like a footpath so you need to park on the area opposite and walk down the sandy path. It is not suitable for buggies or wheelchairs. The route takes about 30-40 mins and the signage all has English translations on. There’s not much to it if I’m honest but we really enjoyed it. And it is free!!! Because the sand is so fine, the pathways are a killer for your legs and it was a very hot day. I’d recommend if it’s in the area or en route somewhere but I wouldn’t travel for miles to see it.

    Unexpected open air memorial area
This bunker area is easy to reach by car and was built into the sand and dunes. It offers roughly a 30min tour through/along the old bunker buildings and now and then some information boards in three languages (NL/DE/EN). Indeed there could have been a bit more description at some parts. Honestly there is nothing really special to see but I like it nonetheless. For me it helps to have this feeling of "these crazy things really happened". This madness included so many things like even building massive concrete bunkers at the edge of a small beach bay and keeping a dozen soldiers living here 24/7. Today pretty unbelievable thus I approve to keep places like this in shape.
