Badlands National Park, South Dakota, United States

The Badlands

We drove from Rapid City on hwy 90 and started from the west from a town named Wall. We stopped at the Ranger entrance and the cost was $30 or you can buy a one year pass for senior citizens for all parks for $20. The loop 240 road trip was wonderful. We stopped on all view sites. We enjoyed going there.

    Beautiful National Park
I honestly didn't have high expectations about going to this NP ~ But I was proven wrong! I think after going to almost 20 National Parks that this one is definitely in the top 5! During the winter and early spring only the top loop is open for you to drive and you can hike from these points. The whole park doesn't open until the summer months. As you enter you will have to pay entrance fees. Going in a lot of the land looks like prairie but just around the corner the show begins with gorges, valleys, mountains and the Black Forest hills. The peaks are so colorful to stripes, stripes, stripes of color from the millions of years of sediment, and erosion.

    Breathtaking
Beautiful drive through this National Park. We started at sunrise and the shading on the mountains completely changed the color of them- it was gorgeous. Drove the scenic loop and stopped at many of the pull offs. We saw many buffalo, long horn sheep and prarie dogs. The mounds were different colors and they were beautiful.
