Cruise Mannum to Goolwa

We did the cruise from Mannum to Goolwa. Thanks to Jock & Warren for looking after us on the cruise and to Gavin for the return bus trip. Both legs of the trip were informative, great seeing the river & Lake Alexandrina from a different perspective. Plenty of smiles & laughs from everyone on board! Tasty snacks & lunch provided.

    A trip not to miss.
What a great trip! Goolwa to Manum. A nice sunny day and a crew happy to help where necessary. An informative and interesting commentary during the cruise giving real insights to current and historical events along the way. Morning tea/coffee and a piece of home made slice went down well. Traversing Lake Alexandrina we saw a few seals and pelicans. Lunch packs of cold meats were served with fresh salads, all very tasty. Afternoon tea/coffee served a little later with biscuits. Captain Jock was a seasoned and skilled operator as he manoeuvred the boat through fast running and high waters at Mannum also encountering some gusty winds at that time. A very enjoyable trip and very good value for the experience.

    Fantastic cruise lasting 6.5 hrs.
Booked the cruise hoping for a nice day out on the Coorong. The weather was perfect. Lunch, morning tea and afternoon tea was part of the deal. Lunch was cold meat and salad. The food was fresh and we enjoyed it with wine. Rupert the skipper pointed out points of interest along the way and had a good eye for birds and seals along the way. We stopped on the shore and walked to the ocean over the sandhills. Our guide (sorry I have forgotten her name) pointed out native plants and berries and explained how the Indigenous people used them. We were lucky that there were still berries on the plants. When we reached the coast we were shown how to collect pippies a small shell fish. Lots of fun. When we returned to the boat Rupert had cooked some for us to try. Next stop we walked across the vast sand dune to an area where over many years a vast amount of shells covered the side of the sand dune. Rupert explained that you could gather fresh water in a place that didn't seem to have any water. After digging a hole in the sand the water started to flow into the hole like magic. We were given assurance that it was safe to drink and samples. The water was fresh and cool and better than the tap water in the area. The time went fast and the information continued throughout the cruise. Would do it again if we were in the area again because every cruise would be different..
