Amazing, not to be missed!

Highlight of our CP trip was Faye’s Underground Home & Mine. It was closed when we arrived, but a phone number was available to organise a tour with Caroline within 10 minutes. It was lovely to meet her, such a wonderful person/tour guide. She was very knowledgeable and knew Faye’s stories very well, we enjoyed learning about how amazing Faye was. Not to be missed & don’t be put off by entrance fee, it’s worth it.

    Great Experience
This is a must see if visiting Coober Pedy. Faye Nayler is famous for digging her underground home by hand with a little help from two female friends. They used only picks, shovels and wheel barrows to excavate the plot back in the early 1960s. The guided tour is inexpensive and well worth the experience of being shown through the various rooms and hearing the stories of her amazing life and achievements in such a harsh and male dominated place. Car parming is available on site.

    Not to be missed!
To think this underground home was hand dug by 3 women in the 60's & 70's was mind-blowing. The home is as Faye left it all those years ago with original furnishings and decor. Following a brief history given to us by Grant, the property caretaker, we were able to walk through at our leisure. We were offered a tour of Faye's mine on the property at a small additional cost. Well worth it. Grant's commentary was informative and gave a great understanding of what this amazing lady achieved during her time in Coober Pedy. Would highly recommend it!
