Hidden Gem

When research Tunisia I came across this museum but was not sure if would go. I am glad I made the time to visit as it was well worth it. Upon entering you pay fee and then are left to explore the house. They give you information on each room and all rooms are decorated beautifully. There is a lot of history shown in this museum and I would recommend to all history lovers to try to make time to visit. Me and my friend enjoyed it and took some beautiful pictures.

    Understanding a lifestyle
This old house, near the Archeological Museum, was difficult to visit because in pandemic/winter low season, they don’t stick to their schedule; our guide had to set a visit appointment. This privately owned manor is very well preserved; it shows the lifestyle of a wealthy family of a century ago (not the era of the original construction, wich is centuries old). They have many clothes, artifacts and furniture It’s interesting to see the bed styles and the rooms distribution.

Difficult to access but well worth it!
This is the house of a former aristocratic that still has its original furnishings. You can see the bedrooms of children 10 years and above, the bedroom of the second wife, the orignal kitchen, beautiful tiles a lovely terrace and a gorgeous view from the very top. Pick up a copy of the map of the house as soon as you enter. It’s difficult to access the Dar Essid museum by car. It’s on a narrow steep road. You can walk up the road but it’s difficult on a July afternoon.
