Vitosha Boulevard, Sofia Region, Bulgaria

The pulse of Sofia

I was lucky enough to stay just a half block from the center of Vitosha Boulevard so it was an easy walk. Everything seems to be located right here on the boulevard so I had my choice of all sorts of shops, cafe's and restaurants. There are many benches along the way as well, perfect for people watching and watching the occasional street show so in the perfect sunny and warm fall weather I made the most of it!

    Vitosha Boulevard
This should be high up on your list of things to do in Sofia. It is an up market ‘middle class’ area very much in contrast to the rest of Sofia. A lot of high end shops plus souvenir shops, cafes, fashion outlets. It is one of the only areas which is a pedestrian precinct. Prices are slightly more expensive in cafes but still compatible / less than UK prices. When we visited there was a small parade with National costume plus a street entertainer for kids with puppets. A great place to sit for a few hours and ‘people watch’. Also a must if you’re into fashion and big brand names. Beware of the ATMs some charge extortionate fees - there are ones just around the corner with no fees - overall definitely worth a visit. ???

    Main shopping street
This is Sofia’s main shopping street. It would be a mistake to miss it if you are a traveller at Bulgaria’s capital. Lots of shops, cafeterias and restaurants. The prices are a bit higher from other areas, because a lot of tourists are passing by.There is also live music daily from young musicians. You can spent your whole day there, buying things and relaxing. Try it!
