A Fascinating Place to Stroll (Note: I Only Visited the Grounds, Not Inside Any Buildings)

I enjoyed my time, although brief, at the National Palace of Culture and its expansive grounds. Unfortunately it decided to rain on my visit (sigh), but on clear, sunny days with possibly a cool breeze, it’s perfect for spending the outdoors marveling at the Soviet-era architecture, photographing the many unique statues, picnicking on the grass, and so much more. I won’t elaborate any further here, but take my word for this! I highly recommend travelers explore this area; it’s the centerpiece of Sofia.

Opened for events, the park and fountains are not to missed!
The building itself is impressive but access is limited. It was opened in 1981 to celebrate Bulgaria's 1300th anniversary, and is the largest culture center in Southeast Europe. The grounds themselves are sensational and worth the visit. the fountains are the center of attraction and also create great photo ops. There are numerous other attractions on the property.

Must See
Seems to be a meeting place for Bulgarians although the palace itself is closed. Impressive soviet building and beautiful fountains. It was crazy busy last Saturday and there was a fantastic bbq event seemingly supporting the plight of Ukraine. Underneath the palace are food courts / metro and we loved the pool / snooker bar down there too.
