Printing press is prized exhibit

Lyuben was born here in 1834 and the exhibits reflect his lifelong work on behalf of Bulgaria and its people. Comprising summer and winter quarters constructed some decades apart, the buildings are attractive with fine facades of different hues. One of the most engaging displays is a large printing press that Karavelov bought in Serbia in 1871. Accompanying it are the Cyrillic typesetting letters and numerous documents it produced. Grand portraits are displayed throughout, including a photograph of members of his family mourning his death from TB in 1903.

    Lyuben and Petko Karavelovs' House
The house, where Lyuben and Petko Karavelov were born, is one of the 6 museums in Koprivshtitsa and it can be visited with a combo ticket. This house-museum is divided into 2 parts, one with facts, belongings and life's timeline of Lyuben Karavelov - the famous Bulgarian writer, encyclopedist, journalist and ethnographer who took important part in the Bulgarian national-revolutionary movement. In the other part are shown facts and information about Lyuben Karavelov's younger brother, Petko, who was a famous politician after the Liberation of Bulgaria from the Turks who also took part in the making of the Tarnovo Constitution and for a couple of years was a prime-minister. A must visit for all Bulgarians.
