Evening tour of Harrington Sound, Bermuda
The Bermuda Aquarium is sponsoring an evening tour of Harrington Sound a few days a week. One receives an EXCELLENT tour from experts in Bermuda History, Fauna, Flora, and so much more. One gets a glimpse of the magnificent homes on the sound and seldom seen corners of this beautiful island, to which I have been travelling for over 30 years. Highly recommended.

    Sea without the waves
It would be untruthful to say there are no waves but they are definitely muted compared to around the island. Harrington Sound is like an inland lake, closest Bermuda gets to a lake anyhow. The only water entrance is through Flatts Bridge and that will only permit the smaller boats. There is public access at several points around the sound though most surrounding land is privately owned. Two public docks found along Harrington Sound Road and one at Trinity Road end. Good for small craft - dinghies, kayaks, small motor boats, rowing - and swimming. Snorkelling is fine but less variety in fish compared with reef snorkel sites. Very deep in the centre apart from around the small islands - one is a nature reserve called Rabbit Island and the other big one privately owned, but several smaller outcrops found near the many bays and inlets. Protected to a degree form the wind, safe for novice sailing and children (with buoyancy aids). No lifeguards or facilities. Disabled access would be very tricky unless by small boat from one of the walk on moorings at Flatts. Watch for the rough water around Flatts bridge as the tides change. You can spend a pleasant half day on the sound - with sun lotion!
