Lovely and romantic spot in downtown area
Because of the pandemic, it had been more than a year since we last visited Chijmes. We usually plan to visit after dark because we appreciate the architecture and the dramatic and artistic lighting throughout the complex. This month, it was well decorated with Christmas lights, and there was even a light show with images cast on the chapel. We also like the calm and relatively quiet atmosphere in Chijmes, and its proximity to Raffles City and City Hall MRT station. It seems to get more popular with each passing year, and it has limited space, so eventually it will become too crowded.

Worth a visit to see it
As Chijmes was located across the road from where we were staying in Singapore, we decided to visit it on New Year’s Eve. As mentioned in earlier reviews, we saw mostly tourists eating at the venues. We spent some time walking around and looking at perhaps having a drink at one of the venues. However, we found all of the venues were eating places and as such, decided against it. There was a band playing in the middle section and we heard it playing until quite late into the night. I think this might have been just for New Year’s Eve. As we didn’t eat at any of the venues, we cannot comment on what the food was like, just the atmosphere. To us, it was noisy and hot, even though we visited quite late at night. I think this is because of all of the lighting around the venues.
