    Statue of Raffles image
When you hear so much about Raffles and Singapore, it is hard to believe he stayed here less than a year, only a couple of months. However, there would have been no Singapore and certainly not a English speaking enclave in SE Asia without him. Raffles found a sneaky way to get the British in and Singapore as we know it was born. This is a great tribute to him. In addition, it is perfect for pictures, silhouetted against the skyscrapers and the river. It is also a place for tourist to have some fun. See more..

Remembering those who fought for our freedom and in many cases their own lives is very important. It was first dedicated in 1922 to the remembrance of 124 British soldiers of Singapore who perished during World War I. After World War II, the remembrance was amended to include the Singaporean fallen of the second major war of the 20th century. See more..
