Visit to Haleji lake

Just visited haleji lake on this weekend, good to see that it's being renovated The road around the lake is being constructed and looking at the pace of work it should get complete soon. Also there is a newly constructed guesthouse for stay which can be booked at arrival. So planning another visit there in December.

    A Bird Watchers Paradise
The best place for nature lovers in Sindh province of Pakistan. Haleji Lake is situated about 70 Kms away from Karachi in the historical district of Thatta. Although it has not been maintained sine long due to lack of funds, still it gives a glimpse of natural attraction. The complete circuit of Haleji Lake is about 12 miles. The main water reservoir of the lake covers an area of almost 7 Sq. miles, the maximum depth being 17 feet. The shady lush green trees surround the lake with Phragmites, Typha, Hydrilla and Lotus cover some parts of the lake as well that makes the lake so colourful. Haleji Lake is a bird watcher's paradise. As many as 200 bird species have been recorded in the environs of Haleji lake during the winter season.

    For bird-lovers.
70 km away from Karachi. Known for being Asia's largest sanctuary for migratory birds. Birds from Siberia migrate here during the winter. There are also some marsh crocodiles. Not much else to do if you aren't a bird-watcher.
