Shuangqiao Valley, Sichuan, China

5.0 (30 reviews) Wednesday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Spent Ranking #2 in Ngawa Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture Valleys

Awesome place

Of the two valleys we visited we enjoyed this one the most. It is Just 7 km from town. We flagged down a car and a local gave us (4 of us) a lift for 60rmb. (We got back to Siguniangshan town for 40 rmb.) On arrival at the park gate we paid 80 rmb for the tickets (half price for the kids) and a bit extra for the bus. Private vehicles are not allowed inside the valley. The bus took us to the top of the valley where there were mountains over 5000 metres and even views of a glacier. From there we followed the boardwalk down slope. With a 5 year old daughter we still managed to walk 5 km even at a starting altitude of 3850 metres. Saw amazing sights including Tibetan worship monuments, forests, mountains, alpine lakes, a crystal clear river, yaks and horses. When we ran out of puff there were bus stops where you could hop on and off this park bus and go to the various scenic spots.

Natures beauty up close - breathtaking!
You can go by bus between different stations -OR: Start early and go by bus all the way up. Get off and walk all the way back. This is by far the most beautiful walk I have ever done. Early morning is cold and you can for sure need both drinks, food and sunblock. The walk will take many hours to complete, due to a lot of stops for photos. Also the path are destroyed in sections by weather and landslips. Along your way you have to both climb and wade through some parts. There are cows walking freely, and most of them wont bother you, but we actually was chased by a bull and three cows. We had to throw ourselves over a fence to get away. My son (17) and I walked all the way (full day) and had our best memory ever. Highly recommend it to anyone who can. If you get tired along the way it is easy to hop on the bus at several points.

    A nice visit
Shuangqiao Valley is one of the three parks here at Mt, Siguniang. They run buses in the park to drop you off at each "tourist site" and you get on the bus to drive to the next one. It takes around 4-5 hours to do the visit. It is a very nice park with great views of peaks and glaciers.
