Enjoyed Our Visit but Enjoyed Boat More
The Giant Buddha is worth seeing and you get pretty close and personal if you pay 80 RMB to hike up. The paths got pretty crowded towards the end of Golden Week and the steps going up and down are very narrow. We would recommend going on the river cruise here as well for 70 RMB. To get here we took the train from Chengdu East to Leshan Station for 54 RMB one way which took an hour. It took us another half hour to get to the Leshan Grand Buddha Scenic Area by by Didi. To take the boat go to the Baxiandong North area near the Leshan Giant Buddha Scenic Area - Ticket Hall on the north side of the dock area. The south wharf closest to the Buddha is for drop off only. Bring good shoes here and bring water for a hot day. It is a fairly easy hike made slower by the crowds. A good side attraction that we would recommend that is in the same area is the Oriental Buddha Capital. This can easily be accessed if you go up the right side of giant Buddha via the boardwalk instead of left up the narrow cliffside staircase.

Something you should try at least Once .
Who wouldn’t wanna see the world biggest Buddha statue, because its located on the outskirts of chengdu , you’d have to get a train to leshan , hopefully you can get them earliest possible or go there ahead of time (a day ). Upon arrival there is a bus that takes you straight to the location, where you’d get your ticket from the booths be sure to bring your passport . From there , i would advise taking the shuttle to the entrance, because the time you’d take to walk to the entrance , you could have already been in the line . And plus you can walk on your way back to capture some of the scenic views or traditional things they have for sale . I went during the holidays , so I wouldn’t advise on that , but if you do , it took me about 3.5 hours get to the bottom . Don’t drink lots of water as you’ll be in the line for along time and you wont want to leave your spot. But reaching the bottom is totally worth it. You get to take lots of pics and see it for what it truly is beautiful. But man, the walk back up is not for the weak at heart nor for the ones who lack going to the gym, it is a piece of work.
