Jinji Valley, Sichuan, China

4.5 (7 reviews) Spent Ranking #3 in Qionglai Valleys

Under renovation until further notice

I visited Jinji Valley on 9 September 2018. Unfortunately, it is closed for renovation until further notice (please see attached photo). It appears that the wooden deck (or at least a part of it) will be replaced with glass panels to attract more tourists in the future. My overall rating of 'Excellent' is currently based on the expectations only...I need to wait to see it once it is re-opened for tourists...

    Nice outing trip
Very beautiful, maybe a bit expensive (40 kuais each) but worth it. If you don't want to pay for a tuktuk you can go walking from Pingle ancient town (1h30 roughly).

    Crowded but gorgeous.
We went here on a sunny weekend, so the place was absolutely packed, but still worth a visit. (A tip to avoid the queues, you can pay extra to save some time and get the tickets from one of the locals around the ticket stall- the queue can be as long as an hour and whilst there's a roof set up, there's no air conditioning etc. The tickets that they sold us were accepted no problem.) The price is roughly 50-100yuan/person, I don't recall exactly. Once you have your ticket, you can either walk (20 minutes) or drive to the car-parking near to the park entrance (or take a 3-wheeler ride directly). The Valley itself is gorgeous, there's a river for paddling in, and stepping stones across into the valley- you don't need a ticket for this part of the area, but you'll need one to get into the valley itself. They let groups in a few at a time, in order to control the queues and crowds further on. The place is great for photos, and you might also see some wild monkeys along the way, they'll be happy to steal your food/belongings so be careful! The walk through the park can easily take an hour or two, especially with the crowds and queues, there seems to be a build up of people on the ascent up to the long suspension bridge, there's also a snack station and a couple of benches right before you cross the bridge. The bridge itself seems safe enough, though you can certainly feel the sway on the way across! There's also a glass-floored walkway afterwards which is quite fun! The way back down and through the valley is lovely also, with some nice views and a handful of snack vendors. If you find yourself with a spare sunny day, definitely check out this gem.
