Beautiful nature
The lake is very beautiful, it reminds me of Phi Phi Islands in Thailand and Konigssee in Bavaria Germany. It is a pity that in some parts there are many plastic bottles on the water. I wish there would be some action to pick it up, maybe with large fish net it could work. The travel time of 2.5 hours is quite long to be honest. You need to explore and go around the ferry to find good photo and video spots. It was fuller than I expected. All the guests are basically tourists. It seems local people do not use this type of transportation. After you get to the harbour in Koman, there is still long drive in road in very bad condition but with scenic views. Ferry price 8 euros one way for one person.

Spectacular gorge
Spectacular gorge. We drove from Shkroder which takes around 2.5 hours. The last 10kms are rough road but our small Peugeot managed ok. We stayed at Hotel Vila Franceze which is about 2kms down from the ferry station. The hotel offers basic rooms, buffet breakfast on the veranda, there is a vineyard and you can walk down to the shore of the lake and have a swim although the water is freezing even in August. The setting is lovely. The staff are friendly and helpful. Ample free parking. Rather than the organised trip offered by the hotel for 25€, we opted to do the return Berisha ferry to Fierze costing €14 and booked online. There are Berisha mini buses which pass the hotel around 08.15 but unfortunately all of them were full. Luckily one of the staff saw our plight and drove us up. Cars can park in a small carpark, space for maybe 20 cars. Then there is a short tunnel before the ferry station. It was chaotic! Jammed with buses and cars and people on foot. We panicked and hurried through but noticed other people sauntering along. On the other side is the ticket office, a small bar, and several boats and ferries. In theory they all leave around 9am. With so many people and cars boarding the Berisha, we finally departed at 9.45. There was a second orange boat tied to the Berisha to take the overspill. we arrived at Fierze at 12.15 and departed punctually at 13.00. just enough time to grab a quick snack in the bar. They have burgers, crisps, etc but I don't know what else. We arrived back at Koman at 15.15 where more chaos ensues as people try to identify which bus they want. We opted to walk down after having sat for 5hours. it was a wonderful trip but in hindsight maybe I would have taken my car on the ferry and continued north rather than doing the return journey. the organised trips go on smaller boats with about a dozen passengers as far as I could see. They take a slightly different route and I'm sure they are great too.
