The most beautiful place to enjoy nature I have ever been to
I have heard that Shimantokawa is said to be the last clear stream in Japan. So I went there by a tour bus (departure from Sta. Nakamura at 8 on every weekends and holidays). And it didn't let me down. Words cannot express what I felt at that time. Just go there to experience by yourself: riding on a small boat while surrounded by green mountains and pure blue sky. Highly recommended!

Great cycling experience along the river
Bicycles can be borrowed at the traveller information center just near Nakamura station. Luggage can be stored there temporarily as well. We borrowed 2 with electric power assistance. They are of high quality. We cycled along the Shimanto river. The roads were well constructed, they were wide and smooth. Although we had to shared the road with cars, the drivers were polite and careful when they drove near us. It was relaxing as we could enjoy the beautiful sceneries without safety concerns.
