Well worth the visit after the observation deck!
On our way down from the observation deck at the Oriental Pearl Tower (see my review), we unloaded next to the entry to the museum. I'm a sucker for museums, and this one is very good! Follow the exhibits in order, and you'll see how Shanghai evolved over hundreds of years. What makes it special is that many of the exhibits are miniature or life-sized mannequins demonstrating typical scenes of everyday life. It's all very nicely done. Plus the English language signs do a very good job of explaining what you see. 2 thumbs up!

This is a fun walk through time
The displays are well done and engaging for all ages. I especially liked the walk through the streets of Shanghai over the decades, and the display of transportation modes, from a wheelbarrow to a Buick Regal. Save money and don't take the elevator trip in the Oriental Pearl. Go to this museum, then head over to Jinmao tower to get the same view for free.
