Yuanshan National Forest Park, Shandong, China

4.0 (19 reviews) Wednesday: 6:30 AM - 6:30 PM Spent Ranking #4 in Zibo National Parks

A huge park and a great day trip

This park is located in Zibo, but not in the same district as the train station. You'll need to take a bus or taxi to the Boshan district. I highly recommend going to Boshan as it's plentiful in it's supply of mountains and scenery (especially in comparison to the other districts). If you like walking then the Yuanshan National Forest Park is for you. It does cost money, but you'll end up spending a lot of time there. You can see some old restored Great Wall bits along with some other interesting things. In the summer it can be quite hot so don't forget to drink lots of water and perhaps wear some sun screen!

One of the recommended place but...
Where should I begin, let me start first with good bits: - A nice steep walk to the park! - Good to get a nice flavour of local Chinese family day out as lots of families visit them on holidays - Chinese wall that is easy to reach and has a nice view to the rocky terrain - A nice view point to the sprawling city of Boshan Not so good: - A national forest that is mired of its looks due to a nearby electricity generation plant(probably based on coal). So you end up being in a park to see this plant and high voltage cables going over the park. This to me ruins the complete natural park visit. - Pagoda Shaped building has nothing to write about. It's simply an abandoned old building with no care and appearing as an eye sore. - Not possible to have tea or coffee in such a park all one can get is Tsingtao/Water/Cold Drinks. Not even one decent restaurant. - Cars passing through the park are a nuisance as they keep on honking all the time to also ruin the feel of being in a park. All in all, this park can be easily given a miss. But if you have nothing else to do then go for a health walk and carry some of your food and drinks.
