An Outstanding Collection

This new museum offers a great look at ancient Chinese art. There are galleries exhibiting ceramics, bronzes, statues, calligraphy, textiles and history. Although there isn't much English signage, the works are stunning. There is a good audio guide in English if you want a deeper context for the masterpieces you'll see. Admission is free if you present your passport or id card. CLOSED on Mondays.

    Beautiful building and amazing artefacts
We visited here during one of the rainy days in Jinan. The building is breathtakingly beautiful. There is so much to see and do within the museum - ranging from Ming artefacts to stuffed animals. I would thoroughly recommend a visit

One of the ten best museums in China
This is a world - class museum with a noteworth collection spanning the length of Chinese history with emphasis on the Dawenkou and Longshan cultures to the present. It rightfully boasts being one of the 10 best in China. There are countless unique and must - see exhibits on permanent display as well as excellent rotating ones. Three quarters of teh displays have English translations (unlike the museum in Beijing!). I went before Covid broke - out and visited several mornings. One needs to do this in order to properly appreciate the displays. I suggest one floor each visit. The animal migration exhibit is a favorite for children. The gift shop has a number of excellent books in English.
