A good and colourful night market.
This is a great (if sometimes overcrowded) night market. It offers mainly food of all sorts, but also other market-ish stuff - clothes, fans, etc. Don't miss the fake telescope near the market's entrance - those guys built lots of fake telescopes and they charge people for taking a look at the planets. Everyone with a sharp eye can tell that those are not real telescopes (but rather home-made toys), but for many tourists, watching at taped blurry photos of the planets through a fake telescope is a must. Try asking one of the telescope operators how come you can see the planets while the skies are so cloudy... . :)

a cultural dip worth taking!
You will enter into a bit of a cultural awakening when walking into the Beiyuanmen Night Market. There are so many sounds, colors, tastes, etc. You can eat so much meat and try so many new things! The restaurants were very good and authentic. We loved it so much, we went back a second night too! You truly feel like a local here! this is not a westernized place. After you try some of the food, talk a walk through the actual allies where you can find steal of deals. A great market of T-shirts, jewelry, and stuff.... name your price, but be good to the locals.... dont negotiate to try to win... know what you are willing to pay for something and enjoy the art of negotiation. but remember, this is how they make a living and what you are trying to negotiate may be a big deal to them. :) Overall, If you are in Xi'an, this is a must!
